Planned servicing for electric gates and barriers at homes, businesses and schools. Safety checks, force tests and a written report after every visit. All brands, across Essex, Thurrock and East London.
Our gate servicing plans start from £19.99 per month, based on a single domestic gate. The exact price depends on your gate system. Commercial sites and properties with more than one gate are quoted for your gate.
An electric gate is a heavy machine that moves on its own. Photocells drift out of line, safety edges wear, hinges dry out and settings get changed. Most of this happens slowly, so nobody notices until the gate stops working or, worse, stops reversing when something is in the way.
A planned service catches these problems early. We check that the gate stops and reverses as it should, test the closing force, and put right the small faults that lead to call-outs. It costs less to look after a gate than to repair one that has been left to fail.
Servicing is a big part of our work. Before our first automated gate installation in 2021, we spent many years working in facilities management, including integrations to electric gates. Today we install more than 30 automated gates a year and service more than double that number, and that first gate is still on our service list.
Every visit follows the same checklist, so nothing is missed and you can see exactly what was done.
We test photocells, safety edges and loop detectors, and check the gate stops and reverses when it meets an obstruction. Misaligned or damaged devices are cleaned, realigned or replaced.
We measure the closing force at the danger points with a force tester and record the readings against the limits in BS EN 12453. If a reading is too high, we adjust the system and test again.
We check motors, gearboxes and hydraulic oil levels, then hinges, pivots and limit stops. Moving parts are greased, and we check the leaf runs freely when it is released from the motor.
We read the error history, check the settings and firmware, and note any change we make. Remotes, keypads and intercoms are tested so every way of opening the gate works.
Foundation boxes are checked for water, roots and debris. On sliding gates we check the track and rollers. Standing water and loose tracks cause many winter breakdowns, so we look for them early.
After each visit you get a report with photos, the time and date, the checks made, the force readings and anything that needs attention. It gives you a clear record for your own files or your insurer.
Homes: for most driveway gates, one service a year keeps things running well. We book it in, so you do not need to remember.
Businesses and managed sites: gates that open all day wear faster and are used by staff, visitors and delivery drivers. We set the visit interval to match the traffic and can keep a log for your health and safety records.
Schools: school gates are used by children and parents at busy times, so safety devices matter even more. See our school gates page for more.
We service swing gates, sliding gates and barriers, including Roger Technology, FAAC and BFT systems and many other brands. Gates fitted by other companies are welcome.
Servicing plans start from £19.99 per month for a single domestic gate (system dependent). Commercial sites and properties with more than one gate are quoted for your gate, its motor and how often it is used. Call 01375 886299 or send us your gate details for a quote.
If your gate has already stopped, you need a repair first. See our electric gate repairs page.
We cover the whole county from our base in Chafford Hundred. See our electric gates in Essex page for local areas.
A service is a good time to add app control. We fit Remootio controllers to most gate systems.
Answers to the questions we are asked most about gate servicing and maintenance.
We recommend a service at least once a year for a home driveway gate. Commercial gates, school gates and gates that open many times a day need servicing more often, usually every three or six months, depending on how busy the entrance is.
We check every safety device, run force tests on the closing edges and record the readings, check the motors, hinges, pivots and limit stops, look at the control board settings and error history, and check foundation boxes and tracks for water, debris and wear. You get a written report with photos.
Yes. Many of the gates we service were fitted by someone else. Before we take on maintenance of a gate we have not seen before, we inspect it and assess the risks, so we know what we are working with and can tell you about anything that needs putting right.
Yes. Our gate servicing plans start from £19.99 per month, based on a single domestic gate, with the exact price depending on your gate system. For businesses, schools, managed sites and properties with more than one gate, we set up planned maintenance agreements quoted for your gate and how it is used, with visits booked in at the right interval.
We tell you what we found and what it means for safety. Small adjustments are usually made on the day. Where a part needs replacing or more work is needed, we explain the options and quote before doing anything. If a gate is unsafe to use, we will make it safe and tell you why.
